Rant ahead: Tagging Posts

And I’m not talking about tagging people, I’m talking about what you choose – or don’t – to tag your fic as.

Example: bucky barnes x female reader, nsfw; things like that

A lot of my fellow writers and I go out of our way to make sure that our fics are tagged correctly so as not to upset and drive away our friends / followers / fellow creators. You know why? One person’s kink isn’t for everyone.

Then there are a select few that don’t tag, then get butthurt and defensive when someone dare mention it.

While I have you’re attention, you know what’s also great to do? Adding a keep reading break. I don’t know how many times I’ve logged on to see that there are nsfw gifs on my dash that should have been hidden under a keep reading break. Same goes with nsfw text. If I want to read it, or see it, I’ll click the break. I’ll go to your blog and find it.

You know why? Not everyone wants dicks and tits and cum on their dash. ESPECIALLY if it isn’t a pairing they don’t want to see.

If you’re about to say just scroll past, slow your roll, sweetheart. That’s where tagging comes in handy. See, there’s this amazing invention called Tumblr XKit where we can blacklist certain tags as well as ‘tag filtering.’ But if you, the creator of icky content, do not do your due diligence, we’re back to seeing said icky content on our dashes. Content that will get you blocked, unfollowed, and reported; especially if your blog is not marked as sensitive. Even if your blog is marked as sensitive, tagging properly is the best way to not piss people off.

So, the next time you create something, put yourself in someone else’s shoes, and stop thinking about yourself. Stop acting like you’re the innocent party and did nothing wrong. Stop attacking others because you failed to do your job. Stop acting like a child. Just stop.
