“I thought Professor Mills was supposed to teach this class?” Panic was evident in your voice as you whispered under your breath. You sat in the second row of the stadium style lecture hall and watched in horror as the man at the front of the room unpacked lesson plans from his messenger bag.
Charlie shrugged and gave you a teasing grin.
How could this be happening? You groaned internally.
“Good morning class,” the man started, walking around his desk to lean on the front edge of the tabletop. “My name is Professor Winchester and this is U.S. History since 1865. If you’re in the wrong class, feel free to make your way out– it happens sometimes on the first day. For most of you, this class will help toward your Humanities credits, which you’ll need in order to fulfill the gen. ed. requirements for graduation.”
He surveyed the room and you tried to sink further down in your seat. Spotting you and Charlie, he grinned and continued on with his introduction. “It’s nice to see some familiar faces in here, but I look forward to getting to know those of you I haven’t had in class before. As you may have guessed, I’m not Ms. Mills. She had a last minute opportunity for sabbatical, so I’ll be taking over all of her courses this semester.”
Did his eyes just flash back to you? You had to be seeing things. Did he always look this sexy in a suit? And who has freaking 5 o’clock shadow at 9 in the morning? Don’t even get yourself started on that jawline… Your mind was racing and you began bouncing your legs anxiously under the counter.
