Summary: A Marvel AU fic. You and Sam Wilson were colleagues first and friends second. You were both top of the resident pool in a prestigious orthopedic surgical residency program, which left no time to start or cultivate real relationships. You had earned the spot through relentless efforts on every front, despite unwanted opinions that your plus-size pear-shaped self couldn’t hack it, and you were not interested in a relationship that could pose even the slightest risk to derailing your dream. A well-timed offer of the often-discussed, but seldom observed “sex with no strings,” started something that made you more than smile.
Word Count: 2500
Pairing: Sam Wilson x Plus-size reader insert
Warnings: SMUT SMUT SMUTTY SMUT. If sex without strings isn’t your thing, please don’t read. If a woman who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to get it isn’t your thing, you should move on to the next worthy fic. If a black man and a white woman isn’t your thing, this isn’t for you. A teeny bit of angst
A/N: This started as a one-shot. Then I got some encouragement to continue it and ta-da! It’s 4 parts. Thanks to everyone who has read, liked, reblogged, and of course, commented. I loved writing this, as I never thought I could write for Sam (even though this is an AU, I find he is probably the easiest one to think of, in character, living a real life outside of the superhero world). Hope you love the way this ends, I do. 🙂 – Steph
As hospital shifts go, this one was relatively low-key. The usual summer injuries that necessitated orthopedics didn’t seem to be happening, so you had time to excessively worry about what you would say when you met with your bosses. You and Sam talked briefly, but he was covering the floor while you were in the ER, so you didn’t cross paths as much as usual.
I love how you’ve created this wonderful reader that Sam is absolutely head over heels in love with, and vice versa. She’s not perfect; she has insecurities just like all of us. So beautiful. Thank you for taking me on this journey.
